A wound is break in the skin (the outer layer of the skin is called the epidermis). Wound are usually caused by cuts or scalps, symptoms at wound or injury include swelling, stiffness, tenderness, discoloration skin tightness, scabbing, itching and scar formation. The present study aims to investigate the possible wound healing effect of hydroalcoholic extracts of aerial parts of Ocimum basilicum in the present study excision wound model was used to evaluate the wound healing activity of Ocimum basilicum ,. The present study was aimed for wound healing potential of hydroalcoholic extract of O. basilicum (aerial part) in the form of simple ointment using excidion wound model in rats. The main objective of this investigation is to develop a product, which may give a wound healing property, and enhance wound healing process like increase the collagen synthesis, fibroblast proliferation, angiogenesis and epithelization, because products which are available in market are either antiseptic or antimicrobial.
